Tahoe ski resorts extend season: How long Heavenly, Palisades, Northstar will stay open
Many Tahoe-area ski resorts have announced an extended season due to all the snowfall so far this year. Here is a look at when they plan to close:
Palisades Tahoe
The resort announced on Thursday part of its mountain will stay open into the start of the summer after receiving more than 56 feet of snow overall this season.
The Palisades side of the mountain will stay open through Memorial Day on Monday, May 29.
The Alpine side will stay open on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through June and then it will be open to skiers and snowboarders for the final days of the season from July 1-4.
Heavenly will add three full weeks to its schedule, with a new closing date of Sunday, May 7.
“We are incredibly excited to offer even more days of skiing and riding for our guests,” said Tom Fortune, Vice President and Chief Operations Officer of Heavenly and the Tahoe Region.
Northstar
Northstar will add two additional weekends, staying open Friday, April 21 – Sunday, April 23 and Friday, April 28 – Sunday, April 30.
Kirkwood
Kirkwood will also add two additional weekends to stay open Friday, May 5 – Sunday, May 7 and Friday, May 12 – Sunday, May 14.
With snow totals at nearly 55 feet, it is approaching the prior seasonal record of more than 58 feet.
Sugar Bowl
Sugar Bowl has gotten 60 feet of snowfall this season and the resort will remain open through Sunday, April 23.
