Tracy city attorney’s license active again after not being in compliance for July
Tracy city attorney Bijal Patel’s license with the California State Bar is active again after the bar said her license was not in compliance last month.
The city is now planning a special meeting for Monday to review the matter.
Patel’s license status last month said she was ineligible to practice law in California. Bar officials had confirmed to KCRA 3 that Patel failed to meet an administrative deadline.
All attorneys practicing law have to complete legal education requirements every three years and file a report with the state bar.
The deadline for this year was in February.

It’s not clear if she conducted any legal matters for the city during that time.
The meeting on Monday will be a closed session since it’s a confidential and personal matter.
Patel took over as city attorney in April of last year. She had previously served as special counsel for Oakland’s city attorney’s office.
