Among the long line of travelers checking in at the Southwest ticketing counter inside Sacramento International's Terminal B was one man who stood out not only for his San Francisco 49ers gear and the shiny, gold Niners necklace sparkling on his chest.
He also stood out for his achievement. Daniel Monreal is the San Francisco 49ers "Fan of the Year."
"I was named November of this year. So, basically they announced me at the stadium. We've been to every game this year and they gave us free tickets to Philadelphia," Monreal said.
We found Monreal checking in for his Southwest flight to Las Vegas on Thursday morning.
So what makes Monreal, a cancer survivor and youth football coach, such a notable fan?
"(His) enduring dedication to his community, his team and his family is what inspired the 49ers to honor Daniel as the 49ers Fan of the Year" 49ers.com says. "(He) made it a bucket list goal to visit every stadium in the NFL and see every 49ers home and away game in 2023-2024."
As for his prediction in the ultimate football game to end the season?
"Niners, obviously, by 17," said Monreal. "I think we're going to shut down Mahomes and take this one home."
