Super Bowl 58 event provides women opportunity to experience 'day in the life' of NFL athletes
THAT’S WHAT HAPPENED TODAY. LISA GONZALES GOT THE CHANCE DEL. YOU KNOW WHAT IT’S LIKE TO BE AN NFL PLAYER BECAUSE YOU WERE WHAT I WAS. BUT FOR THE REST OF US AND ESPECIALLY WOMEN WHO UP UNTIL NOW DIDN’T HAVE A CHANCE TO PLAY FOOTBALL, RIGHT. THAT’S WHY THEY ASK A LOT OF QUESTIONS BECAUSE THEY DIDN’T PLAY IT. BUT THE BEST WAY TO LEARN SOMETHING IS TO DO SOMETHING. SO TODAY I TOOK PART OF THIS EVENT WITH A BUNCH OF WOMEN CALLED A DAY IN THE LIFE AND LET ME TELL YOU, THE LADIES HIT THE GRIDIRON STRONG TO LEARN FOOTBALL BY ACTUALLY PLAYING IT FROM QUARTERBACKS TO WIDE RECEIVERS, THESE WOMEN LEARNED EVERY POSITION AND HAD A CHANCE TO PLAY THE POSITION. AND FORMER NFL AND CFL PLAYERS AND COACHES WERE ON HAND TO TEACH THEM AND TEACH THEM THE INTRICACIES OF THE GAME RUNNING ROUTES, READING PLAYS. IT WAS ALL INCLUDED IN THIS DAY LONG EVENT CREATED AND HOSTED BY DOCTOR JEN WELTER, THE FIRST FEMALE NFL COACH. I NEVER KNEW HOW TO READ A PLAYBOOK OR I ALWAYS WANTED TO, LIKE, STEP ON THE FIELD, BUT I NEVER HAD THE COURAGE AND COURAGE IS SOMETHING THAT’S A HABIT, RIGHT? LIKE IF YOU TAKE SOMETHING THAT WAS SUPPOSEDLY NOT FOR YOU, AND ON A DAY IN THE LIFE, YOU MAKE IT FOR YOU, NOT ONLY ARE YOU GOING TO TACKLE OUT HERE, BUT YOU LEARN THAT YOU CAN REALLY TACKLE ANYTHING TO HAVE THE LADIES OUT HERE GET A CHANCE TO BE ABLE TO LEARN AND UNDERSTAND IT. SO NOW THEY GET IT WHEN THEY’RE PLAYING, YOU KNOW, WHEN THEY’RE WATCHING THE GAME, THEY’RE GOING TO BE ABLE TO DROP SOME KNOWLEDGE TO THEM. I LEARNED A LOT. I STRETCH STUFF I DIDN’T EVEN KNOW I HAD. I LITERALLY HAD THE BALL PASS TO ME, RAN UP FIELD AND I’M LIKE, AND THEN I ALMOST FUMBLED AND THEN LIKE, THEN I HAD THE COACH AND SAYING, LET’S GO. BUT IT JUST FELT PHENOMENAL JUST TO HAVE THAT ENERGY AND TO BE ABLE TO EXPERIENCE THIS. WOW. I KNOW YOU PLAYED IN HIGH SCHOOL. HOW ARE YOUR HAMSTRINGS FEEL NOW? BOTH OF THEM, BECAUSE I WENT I WAS PLAYING TIGHT END AND I KNOW, I KNOW YOU WANT 100% TOO. AND I GOT THE TOUCHDOWN I KNOW I GOT THE BALL, I KNOW YOU WENT LIKE 110%. I BELIEVE IT, I BELIEVE IT. MY RIGHT HAND, MY RIGHT HAND ME IS SCREAMING AT ME, OKAY. BY THE WAY DOCTOR JEN WELTER, SHE’S ABOUT THE FOREFRONT OF CHAMPIONING GETTING MORE WOMEN INVOLVED IN FOOTBALL AND FLAG FOOTBALL. AND SHE STARTED THE
