2-year-old girl dies after hit by truck in Woodland, police say
A 2-year-old child died Saturday afternoon after they were hit by a vehicle, the Woodland Police Department said.
Officers got a report of the crash that happened around 3:45 p.m. in the 300 block of West Street off of West Main Street, the police department said. When officers got there, they learned that family members took the child to a hospital, where they died of their injuries.
At the crash scene, the police department said they spotted a black Dodge truck with a 3-year-old child inside. They also found a man nearby who was associated with the truck and learned it hit the 2-year-old.
Police did not specify if there was anything criminal that led to the crash. The police department responded to Facebook comments to clarify that DUI is not suspected at this time.

The family of the child later identified her as Ailahni Sanchez Martinez.
Ailahni’s parents, Rosa Martinez and Sandro Sanchez, said she was just a month away from her birthday.
“She was always happy, she loved to dance and brought joy to the family,” her mother Rosa Martinez said.
Ailahni’s parents told KCRA 3 that they were setting up their taco stand when they saw the truck moving backward toward their daughter.
“We want justice,” said Sanchez. “I lost my daughter because of someone else. “
