But you don’t have to hire a contractor or handyman to help you out, there are cheap and easy DIY projects that only look expensive. Below are some upgrades that won’t break your home renovation budget! Upgrade your outlets: It sounds easy — because it is! This is a simple and affordable do-it-yourself project and it makes your house look more modern. Check out this outlet cover that has a smart appliance shelf. We got a pack of 2 for $20 on Amazon. All you have to do is pop off the outlet plate you already have, place the shelf on the outlet and screw the plate back on the top.Many home improvement experts say, switching out your old 2-prong outlets to more modern ones will help.
