Christina Fugazi and Tom Patti are running to serve as mayor of Stockton.
The current mayor, Kevin Lincoln, is running for Congress.
Fugazi said her campaign slogan is "Enough is Enough."
"Enough is enough with the crime. Enough is enough with the trash. Enough is enough with the homeless, where we've gotten money and we haven't spent it in a way that has truly addressed the underlying issues behind homelessness," Fugazi said.
Fugazi said her number one priority is crime in the city and police retention. As a high school assistant principal, she said a lot of it has to do with youth.
"I'm at the front lines at the ground level. I see what our kids are having to go through. All the smoke shops, they have to walk by liquor stores. They have to walk by homeless people. They have to walk by on their way to schools," Fugazi said.
Fugazi said she has fought hard to get resources, like these bathrooms, for kids and the unhoused.
"Unfortunately there was no bathrooms, so kids would have to go in the bushes," she said. "We need to have restrooms that are accessible that also have security measures in them, because otherwise what happens is you have people that set them on fire. You have people that shove stuff down the toilet. These are pretty much tamper-proof."
As for Fugazi's take on her opponent Tom Patti bringing his friend Mike Tyson to town, she does not see how it has an impact on the community.
"I've been to an event before where Tom has brought Tyson to this city, but Tyson isn't improving our community. He has not changed from when he was here to how he is here now to improve it," she said.
