Pachamama will serve its coffee at two student-run Coffee Houses on the UC Davis campus and at the UC Davis Health campus in Sacramento.

In a full circle moment for a coffee brand that started in Davis, Pachamama Coffee announced Wednesday a partnership with UC Davis to serve its coffee.Pachamama Coffee is a cooperative of farmers that was founded in 2006 by thousands of coffee farmers in Peru, Nicaragua, Guatemala, Mexico and Ethiopia, according to its website. Co-founder Nicolas Brown wrote Pachamama Coffee's business plan in 2000 while attending medical school at UC Davis and the business' first wholesale customer in 2006 was the Davis Food Co-Op, a spokesperson said. The brand is now based in Sacramento where Pachamama roasts coffee in small batches and operates five specialty cafes across the region. The business also has a subscription service and a national wholesale program. As part of the new deal, Pachamama will serve its coffee at two student-run Coffee Houses on the UC Davis campus and at the UC Davis Health campus in Sacramento. "We are thrilled to partner with UC Davis and, for the first time, directly connect a North American university with coffee growers globally,” Thaleon Tremain, co-founder and CEO of Pachamama Coffee, said in a statement. “Pachamama was born in Davis, where we launched the country’s first farmer-owned coffee brand out of a garage. It’s an honor to serve our coffee here at home to a community that shares our vision of empowering smallholder farmers and regenerative farming practices.”A Pachamama spokesperson added that more than half of Pachamama's executive leadership are UC Davis alumni.
