AND TODAY, THERE IS A BIGGER REASON TO BE GRATEFUL. YOU ALL HELPED US BREAK A RECORD FOR THE 31ST ANNUAL ANNUAL RUN AT LEAST 31,522 PEOPLE SIGNED UP TO PARTICIPATE THIS YEAR. THE ANNUAL THANKSGIVING DAY TRADITION FATTENED UP THIS YEAR WITH ANOTHER RECORD BREAKING NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS TO BREAK A RECORD THIS YEAR PAST THE 30TH ANNIVERSARY IS REALLY SPECIAL, AND WE BROKE A RECORD FOR THE TURKEY DRIVE AS WELL. The 2024 Run to Feed the Hungry has become a Thanksgiving Day tradition in Sacramento for more than 30 years.Run to Feed the Hungry is the biggest fundraiser for Sacramento Food Bank and Family Services. Organizers say it’s the largest Thanksgiving Day fun run in the country.This year the fundraiser set a new record, with 31,660 people who signed up to participate.This is up from 796 runners and walkers at the first event in 1994.The Nov. 28 event for 2024 was allowed to be either a 5-kilometer or 10-kilometer run or walk. People also joined virtually and still got a bib and shirt.The Sacramento Food Bank and Family Services helps hundreds of thousands of people get food assistance in Sacramento County each month through a network of more than 125 partner agencies. Kevin Buffalino with the Food Bank said 344,000 people were fed in October, the highest number ever for a month in the organization's 48-year history.
