EXPLORING CAREERS IN THE TRADE INDUSTRY. CAL EXPO HOSTED THE ANNUAL TRADES DAY EVENT TODAY. THE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY EDUCATION FOUNDATION SAYS 2800 STUDENTS MADE THEIR WAY THROUGH THE HANDS ON FIELD TRIP. ORGANIZERS SAY A LOT OF STUDENTS LEARN ABOUT THE PATHWAYS AVAILABLE IN THE SKILLED TRADES. TO SEE THE MOMENT WHERE THEY GET TO CELEBRATE AND YOU KNOW, JUST THINKING EVERYTHING THAT WE’VE GONE THROUGH THE LAST THREE, FOUR YEARS, BEING A PART OF SOCIETY, TRYING TO BRING IT BACK TOGETHER, LET’S CELEBRATE THE KIDS THAT WANT TO BUILD THE HOSPITAL, THAT WANT TO DESIGN THE HOSPITAL AS MUCH AS WHAT THE DOCTORS AND NURSES ARE DOING. LIFE SAVING WORK IN THERE. BUT IT’S THE BUILDING ALSO THAT’S DOING PART OF THAT WORK, MAKING THAT POSSIBLE. The Construction Industry Education Foundation said 2,800 students made their way through the hands-on field trip. Organizers said a lot of students learn about the pathways available in the skilled trades. The first Trades Day event was hosted in Sacramento in 1998 with just 100 students.
