Sacramento State campus sees wave of pink as thousands make strides against breast cancer
JUST SCAN THE QR CODE ON YOUR SCREEN. THE SACRAMENTO STATE CAMPUS GOT A NEW SCHOOL COLOR THIS MORNING. BRIGHT PINK AS 20,000 PEOPLE SHOWED UP TO SUPPORT THEIR BREAST CANCER PATIENTS AND SURVIVORS. A5K WALK STARTED WITH A SACRAMENTO BREAST CANCER SURVIVOR CUTTING A BIG PINK RIBBON AT THE START LINE THERE. THIS ANNUAL EVENT IS CALLED MAKING STRIDES AGAINST BREAST CANCER. IT’S A FUNDRAISER FOR THE AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY AND KCRA 3 WAS PROUD TO BE A SPONSOR ONCE AGAIN. THE WALK TOOK PEOPLE ON A COURSE THAT WOVE THROUGH THE SAC STATE CAMPUS AND THROUGHOUT THE COURSE, PEOPLE SAW SIGNS WITH MESSAGES ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF THIS WORK, EVEN HAD SOME CHEERLEADERS THERE, ONE IN EVERY EIGHT WOMEN WILL BE DIAGNOSED WITH BREAST CANCER. THE SURVIVAL RATES ARE HIGH WHEN IT’S CAUGHT EARLY, SO IT’S IMPORTANT TO CATCH IT EARLY. THE AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY SAYS THEY RAISED MORE THAN. $600,000, AND IT WILL SUPPORT A NUMBER OF PROGRAMS, INCLUDING MAKING SURE LOCAL PATIENTS HAVE TRANSPORTATION TO THEI

The Sacramento State campus got a new school color this morning as thousands of people wearing pink showed their support for breast cancer patients and survivors.The 5k walk Making Strides Against Breast Cancer is a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. The walk began with a Sacramento breast cancer survivor cutting a big pink ribbon at the starting line. The course wove through the Sac State campus, peppered with signs and messages about the importance of breast cancer awareness.One in every eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer.
