11. I’M EDIE LAMBERT I’M GULSTAN DART. THE TEAM HAS BEEN WORKING ON BUILDING A NEW STADIUM FOR SEVERAL YEARS NOW IN KCRA 3’S. ANDRES VALLE JOINS US LIVE. HE’S IN THE NEWSROOM. SO, ANDRES, WHAT WAS THE FINAL VOTE? WELL, THE CITY COUNCIL VOTED UNANIMOUSLY TO APPROVE THE TERM SHEET, WHICH THE TEAM SAYS WILL ACCELERATE DEVELOPMENT OF THE SOCCER STADIUM AND MULTIPLE SACRAMENTO REPUBLIC FC FANS CAME OUT TONIGHT TO SHOW THEIR SUPPORT FOR A PROJECT YEARS IN THE MAKING. THE DREAM OF A SOCCER STADIUM FOR SACRAMENTO REPUBLIC FC BECOMING CLOSER TO REALITY. YES. AFTER THE CITY COUNCIL UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED A TERM SHEET TO MOVE THE PROJECT FORWARD. MAYOR DARRELL STEINBERG, A BIG SUPPORTER OF TUESDAY NIGHT’S DECISION, IF THESE EIGHT YEARS HAD NOT BEEN SO HARD, IT WOULDN’T HAVE BEEN NEARLY AS SWEET AS IT IS TODAY. BUT THE GOOD AND GREAT STUFF HAPPENS WHEN YOU OVERCOME A LOT OF OBSTACLES. THE NEW DEAL CAME ABOUT AFTER WILTON RANCHERIA BECAME THE MAJORITY OWNER OF THE SACRAMENTO REPUBLIC FC, AND AGREED TO INVEST IN THE RAIL YARDS DEVELOPMENT. MAYOR STEINBERG, CONGRATULATING THE TRIBE’S CHAIRMAN, JESUS TARANGO JR, FOLLOWING THE VOTE. AGAIN, I DON’T SEE THEM AS A PARTNER. THEY’RE JUST ONE OF OUR BROTHERS THAT HAVE THE SAME OBLIGATION THAT WE HAVE TO THIS LAND, AND WE HOPE TO BUILD SOMETHING AMAZING AND BEAUTIFUL. THE NEW DEVELOPMENT WILL SPAN 31 ACRES. THE CITY ESTIMATES THE 12,000 SEAT STADIUM WILL COST AROUND $175 MILLION. AN INVESTMENT THAT FANS LIKE SHARON ANDERSON SAY IT’S WORTH THE PRICE. THIS OWNERSHIP GROUP KEPT THAT DREAM ALIVE. THEY KNOW THAT THEY NEED TO HAVE A CENTER, YOU KNOW, LIKE A COMMUNITY GATHERING PLACE. YOU CAN’T REALLY DO THAT AT CAL EXPO. IT’S BEAUTIFUL OUT THERE, BUT CAN’T DO THAT THERE. SO WHAT COMES NEXT? WE HOPE TO HAVE SOME BUILDING START IN THE FIRST QUARTER OF THIS NEXT YEAR. AS YOU SAW, I THINK THAT ITERATION OF TIME FRAME ON CONTRACTS. ET CETERA. AND I BELIEVE WE’RE GOING TO BE ON SCHEDULE. THANK YOU. NOW INCLUDED IN THAT TERM SHEET APPROVAL WOULD REQUIRE THE TEAM TO ENTER INTO A NON RELOCATION AGREEMENT. SO THEY WOULD STAY IN SACRAMENTO FOR THE NEXT TEN YEARS. AND IT WOULD ALSO ALLOW FOR A NEW 3600 PERSON LIVE ENTERTAINMENT VENUE IN THE RAILYARDS. LIVE HERE
