Sacramento State women’s volleyball team to face Stanford at NCAA tournament
The Sacramento State women’s volleyball team won’t have to travel far after punching their ticket to the NCAA tournament for the 21st time but the first since 2007.
The Big Sky Conference champions learned over the weekend that they will face No. 2-seeded Stanford on Friday at 7 p.m.
This will make the 11th overall meeting between the two programs as the Cardinals have won all 10 prior matchups against the Hornets.
Sacramento State Head Coach Ruben Volta said he's looking forward to his first tournament as a head coach.
"More importantly, I really like it for these players and this group that's been together now, this group of seniors that have put so much into our program," he said. "I think it really means a lot to them."
This will be Sacramento State’s second women’s team this fall to make a NCAA Division 1 tournament, following the soccer team.
