DOUBLE FIGURES. THE SACRAMENTO STATE WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL TEAM PUNCHED THEIR TICKET TO THE NCAA TOURNAMENT FOR THE 21ST TIME, AND FIRST TIME SINCE 27. AFTER WINNING THE BIG SKY TOURNAMENT ON FRIDAY NIGHT. THERE IS THE REACTION ON CAMPUS TODAY. THE LADIES CHEERED WHEN THEY HEARD THEIR NAMES CALLED. THEY WON’T HAVE TO TRAVEL TOO FAR. JUST 120 MILES DOWN THE ROAD, THE HORNETS WILL FACE TWO SEEDED STANFORD ON FRIDAY NIGHT AT 7 P.M. THIS MARKS THE 11TH OVERALL MEETING BETWEEN THESE TWO PROGRAMS. THE CARDINAL HAVE WON ALL TEN PRIOR TO THAT. THIS IS ALSO THE FIRST MATCHUP SINCE 27, AND COACH CAN’T WAIT TO MAKE HIS TOURNAMENT DEBUT. I PERSONALLY HAVE ONLY BEEN THERE AS AN ASSISTANT COACH AND SO MY HEAD COACHING CAREER, IT’S A THING THAT I’D REALLY LIKE TO ACHIEVE. BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY, I REALLY I REALLY LIKE IT FOR THESE PLAYERS AND THIS GROUP THAT’S BEEN TOGETHER NOW AND THIS GROUP OF SENIORS THAT HAVE PUT SO MUCH INTO OUR PROGRAM. AND I THIN

The Sacramento State women’s volleyball team won’t have to travel far after punching their ticket to the NCAA tournament for the 21st time but the first since 2007.The Big Sky Conference champions learned over the weekend that they will face No. 2-seeded Stanford on Friday at 7 p.m. This will make the 11th overall meeting between the two programs as the Cardinals have won all 10 prior matchups against the Hornets. Sacramento State Head Coach Ruben Volta said he's looking forward to his first tournament as a head coach. "More importantly, I really like it for these players and this group that's been together now, this group of seniors that have put so much into our program," he said. "I think it really means a lot to them."
