FRIDAY, WE’VE GOT A SWEET TREAT FOR YOU. WE ARE IN THE BAKERY OF JERRY’S, AND YOU’RE WONDERING. I DIDN’T KNOW PERRY JERRY’S HAD A BAKERY. WELL, THEY DO. WE HAVE OUR BAKERY CHEF SARAH JENNINGS, AND OF COURSE, THE EXECUTIVE CHEF OF THE PEDIGREE RESTAURANT GROUP. KURT SPATARO. SO TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT THIS BAKERY. IT’S KIND OF HIDDEN, BUT YOU CAN ORDER THESE SWEET TREATS ONLINE. YOU CAN. IT’S THE BAKERY IS REALLY UNDER THE RADAR. BUT WE’VE HAD IT FOR YEARS AND YEARS. WE MAKE PASTA, BREAD, PASTRIES, MORNING PASTRIES, ALL KINDS OF STUFF. EVERY DAY. AND THIS YEAR OUR CHEF, OUR PASTRY CHEF SARAH JENNINGS, IS GOING TO OFFER SOME REALLY COOL THINGS, SOME FUN THINGS FOR THE KIDS. ADULT STUFF. SO YEAH, THINGS YOU CAN ORDER IN ADVANCE. AND ALSO SOME REALLY GREAT GINGERBREAD MAKING KITS THAT WE’RE GOING TO SHOW YOU IN A SECOND. BUT SHOW US FIRST HOW YOU MAKE THIS IS CALLED A THIS IS A CRANBERRY. AND BLOOD ORANGE TART. SO THIS IS AN ALMOND PASTRY CRUST. SO IT’S TOTALLY GLUTEN FREE. AND THEN I HAVE AN ORANGE AND LEMON CURD HERE. AND THEN A BLOOD ORANGE AND CRANBERRY CURD HERE. AND I’M GOING TO LAYER THEM. ALL RIGHT. SHOW US HOW YOU MAKE THAT. ALL RIGHT. SO THAT’S THE BLOOD ORANGE. HOW DID YOU MAKE THAT. THE BLOOD ORANGE AND CRANBERRY CURD. SO YOU TAKE CRANBERRIES FRESH CRANBERRIES AND THEN YOU COOK THEM DOWN WITH SOME ORANGE JUICE AND BLOOD ORANGE PEEL AND SUGAR. AND THEN YOU PRESS THAT THROUGH A STRAINER SO THAT YOU GET A NICE SAUCE. AND THEN YOU MIX THAT WITH EGGS, AND THEN YOU COOK IT AND THEN IT’S THIS VERY NICE CREAMY CONSISTENCY. CRANBERRIES HAVE A LOT OF PECTIN IN THEM BECAUSE OF THE SKIN. SO THAT’S WHY IT’S SO NICE AND CREAMY COMPARED TO THE LEMON. AND ORANGE CURD. AND I LIKE THAT BLOOD ORANGES IN SEASON RIGHT NOW. CRANBERRIES. IT’S A VERY FESTIVE DISH THAT YOU CAN MAKE FOR YOUR FAMILY. OR JUST ORDER IT AGAIN. YOU CAN ORDER IT AT THE KCRA 3’S WEBSITE AND I LIKE HOW YOU’RE LAYERING THESE, MIXING IT UP. IT ALMOST LOOKS LIKE A SHERBET. IT DOES KIND OF LOOK LIKE A SHERBET. IT KIND OF TASTES LIKE A SHERBET TOO, BUT IT’S VERY NICE AND BRIGHT, AND I FEEL LIKE CRANBERRY IS A LITTLE BIT UNDERAPPRECIATED. WHAT WAS THAT? THIS ONE IS MEYER LEMON AND SATSUMA CURD, BOTH OF WHICH ARE LOCAL. OKAY. AND HOW DO YOU MAKE THAT CURD THAT YOU TAKE LEMON AND ORANGE ZEST AND YOU KIND OF RUB THAT IN WITH THE SUGAR TO REALLY RELEASE THOSE OILS. AND I CAN’T TELL YOU HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE SO MANY MEYER LEMONS THAT ARE FALLING OFF THE TREES RIGHT NOW. ONE MORE PERSON TEXTED ME AND ASKED ME IF I NEED A BAG OF MEYER LEMONS. THIS IS WHAT I’M GOING TO MAKE WITH IT. YEAH, IT’S REALLY SIMPLE TO MAKE AT HOME AND IT LOOKS REALLY, REALLY IMPRESSIVE TO FINISH IT AFTER BAKING IT, YOU ADD A WHIPPED MASCARPONE CREAM AND SOME BEAUTIFUL LITTLE EDIBLE FLOWERS. LET’S MOVE ON TO THE COOKIE DECORATING KIT THAT AGAIN YOU CAN GET AT THE JERRY’S BAKERY. LET ME OPEN THIS FOR YOU. SO THIS IS EVERYTHING YOU GET INSIDE. EVERYTHING? PRETTY MUCH THAT YOU NEED. SO SHOW US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT HOW WE DO THESE GINGERBREAD COOKIES. SO YOU’LL GET FOUR GINGERBREAD MEN THAT ARE HEAT SEALED SO THEY’LL STAY FRESH FOR A REALLY LONG TIME. AND THEN YOU’LL GET SOME ROYAL ICING AND THEN SOME FUN SPRINKLES AND THINGS TO DECORATE. OKAY, SO YOU PUT THE ICING AND THEN YOU CAN BE AS NEAT OR AS MESSY WITH THESE AS YOU WANT. THERE’S REALLY NO RIGHT OR WRONG WAY TO DO IT. BUT I LIKE THAT THE GINGERBREAD COOKIES ARE, YOU KNOW, THAT THEY’RE REALLY GOOD ONES. I MEAN, YOU COULD GET THESE AT A REGULAR STORE, BUT YOU DON’T KNOW WHAT’S IN THOSE GINGERBREAD? NO, YOU DEFINITELY DON’T. AND THESE WERE MADE WITH LOVE BY SARAH. THEY WERE DEFINITELY MADE WITH LOVE. I JUST KNOW THE KIDS ARE OUT OF SCHOOL IN ABOUT A WEEK AND A HALF, AND IN ABOUT 24 HOURS AFTER THAT, THEY’RE GOING TO BE SAYING THEY’RE BORED. AND IF YOU WANT THEM OFF THEIR DEVICES, THIS IS A FUN FAMILY THING THAT YOU CAN DO. AND REALLY SIMPLE. AND A LOT LESS MESSY THAN DOING A WHOLE GINGERBREAD HOUSE. DEFINITELY LESS MESSY THAN DOING A WHOLE GINGERBREAD HOUSE, AND DEFINITELY A LOT EASIER TO EAT. THAT’S ADORABLE. BUT SO AGAIN, EVERYTHING YOU NEED IN THE KIT IS INSIDE THAT LITTLE BOX.
