The Federal Trade Commission is now distributing refunds to Fortnite players who were charged for unwanted purchases.
This follows a $245 million settlement with Epic Games, the company behind Fortnite, over allegations of misleading players into making unintended purchases.
The FTC says it just sent out its first round of payments, and that the average payment is about $114.
The FTC is still accepting claims, and the deadline to file is January 10, 2025.
You are eligible to apply for a refund if any of the following things happened to you:
- You were charged in-game currency for items you didn’t want between January 2017 and September 2022
- Your child made charges to your credit card without your knowledge between January 2017 and November 2018
- Your account was locked between January 2017 and September 2022 after you complained to your credit card company about wrongful charges
