'Christmas at the Fair': San Joaquin County's newest holiday event
Christmas spirit is growing in San Joaquin County, as the Stockton fairgrounds opened their doors for their first-ever "Christmas at the Fair Festival" Thursday night.
The event runs from 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday through Sunday through Dec. 22.
"All I want to do is spend time with my family," said Serenity Almandarez, a child enjoying the event.
The event had multiple carnival games for children to play, as well as face painting and an artificial snow area where many children were having a blast.
"I know when the time changes, dark comes around, and you're wondering, what do we do for the next four hours before bedtime? So bring them down," said Tyler Meyers, the event organizer.
Despite Thursday night's rainy weather, Meyers told KCRA that he's happy to see families enjoying the holiday fair on opening night.
"We've got the weather working against us a little bit. Some electrical issues have popped up. But there have been a lot of positives from the community. They've been very supportive in this event, and our pre-sales have been strong," Meyers said.
Myers says tickets for adults are $15, and anyone under the age of 18 is free.
A ticket includes all these attractions:
- SkateAnytime Skating Rink
- 25,000 sq. ft. Christmas Light Maze
- Faux-Snow-PlayZone
- Over 2 miles of Christmas Lights
- Photos with Santa
- Kids Carnival with Prizes
- Face Painting
- Christmas Kids Crafts
- Beer & Wine Garden
- Concessions
- Live Music
