Christmas spirit is growing in San Joaquin County, as the Stockton fairgrounds opened their doors for their first-ever "Christmas at the Fair Festival" Thursday night. The event runs from 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday through Sunday through Dec. 22. "All I want to do is spend time with my family," said Serenity Almandarez, a child enjoying the event. The event had multiple carnival games for children to play, as well as face painting and an artificial snow area where many children were having a blast. "I know when the time changes, dark comes around, and you're wondering, what do we do for the next four hours before bedtime? So bring them down," said Tyler Meyers, the event organizer. Despite Thursday night's rainy weather, Meyers told KCRA that he's happy to see families enjoying the holiday fair on opening night. "We've got the weather working against us a little bit.
