Northern California Christmas week forecast: Timeline for rain, snow
448 IS YOUR TIME RIGHT NOW? TIME FOR ANOTHER CHECK OF YOUR WEATHER FORECAST. THIS IS A LIVE LOOK FOR YOU OVER RANCHO CORDOVA. AND WE’RE SEEING A LITTLE BIT OF FOG OUT THERE AT THIS LOCATION. METEOROLOGIST KELLY KERN WITH US NOW. KELLY, ARE WE SEEING THAT PRETTY MUCH ACROSS OUR REGION? YEAH, WE’RE SEEING QUITE A BIT OF FOG ALREADY IN THE VALLEY HERE. AND YOU TAKE A LIVE LOOK FROM SUTTER HEALTH BALLPARK. WE CAN SEE THE TOWER BRIDGE RIGHT NOW. THAT’S CERTAINLY GOOD NEWS, BUT WE DO EXPECT TO SEE MORE FOG AS WE HEAD TOWARDS SUNRISE, WHICH IS A LITTLE AFTER 7:00 THIS MORNING. RIGHT NOW IT’S 55 DEGREES. WINDS ARE GENERALLY PRETTY LIGHT. WE’RE GOING TO SEE THOSE TEMPERATURES CLIMBING INTO THE UPPER 50S BY LUNCHTIME TODAY. AND WE’LL ACTUALLY SEE A LITTLE BIT OF THAT SUNSHINE. MOSTLY CLOUDY SKIES. THERE IS A SLIGHT CHANCE FOR SHOWERS THOUGH. LET’S TALK ABOUT THE FOG FIRST. RIGHT NOW SACRAMENTO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT SEEING HALF A MILE VISIBILITY. AUBURN A MILE AND A QUARTER. VACAVILLE IS LOOKING AT ONE MILE VISIBILITY THREE MILES IN MODESTO. BUT AGAIN, WE EXPECT THAT FOG TO GET A LITTLE BIT THICKER BY DAYBREAK. TRACY RIGHT NOW, JUST ONE MILE VISIBILITY. WE ARE STILL TRACKING A FEW SCATTERED LIGHT SHOWERS. MORE KIND OF A MIST SITUATION, ESPECIALLY AROUND POLLOCK PINES AND AROUND PLACERVILLE. GEORGETOWN, CAMERON PARK AS WELL. THESE ARE SLOWLY TRACKING THEIR WAY TO THE EAST. LIKE I SAID, FOR THE MOST PART, WE’LL STAY DRY TODAY, EXCEPT THAT WE’LL SEE JUST A FEW SHOWERS MOVING THROUGH BETWEEN ABOUT 2 TO 3:00. WE’LL SEE THOSE AROUND WILLIAMS, ARBUCKLE, YUBA CITY CAN’T COMPLETELY RULE IT OUT IN SACRAMENTO, BUT STOCKTON MODESTO EXPECTING TO STAY DRY THIS AFTERNOON. NOW, TONIGHT, HERE COMES THIS NEXT FRONTAL BOUNDARY. AND THIS ONE IS GOING TO PACK A PUNCH. IN FACT, WE’RE EXPECTING THAT LINE OF SHOWERS. SOME OF THEM HEAVY THROUGH ABOUT 5:00 AND 6 A.M. AND SOME COULD EVEN HAVE SOME EMBEDDED THUNDERSTORMS IN THERE. NOW THAT’S GOING TO CONTINUE THROUGH WHAT WOULD BE THE NORMAL MORNING COMMUTE. 9 A.M. STILL SEEING A LOT OF ACTIVE WEATHER. SNOW LEVELS WILL BE PLUMMETING IN THE SIERRA, GOING FROM 7500FT DOWN TO ABOUT 6000FT AS WE GET INTO THE AFTERNOON. AND THEN SKIES GRADUALLY CLEARING OUT AS WE GET INTO THE OVERNIGHT HOURS. WEDNESDAY IS EXPECTED TO BE DRY, WHICH IS GOOD NEWS IF YOU’RE TRAVELING OUT FOR CHRISTMAS DAY OR EVEN HANUKKAH. AS WE GET INTO THE EVENING, ANOTHER ROUND OF WET WEATHER, THOUGH, IS ON THE WAY FOR THURSDAY. NOW THAT STORM TIMELINE. LIKE I SAID, THOSE SNOW LEVELS REALLY DROPPING OFF FOR US ON TUESDAY IN THE AFTERNOON, WE’RE GOING TO SEE THOSE SNOW LEVELS AROUND FIVE 6000FT WITH 5 TO 10IN OF SNOW POSSIBLE TOMORROW IN THE SIERRA TODAY, 59 DEGREES PARTLY CLOUDY SKIES FOR US. NOW AS WE GET INTO THE SACRAMENTO SEVEN DAY FORECAST. TODAY’S HIGH 62 AGAIN. CAN’T RULE OUT A STRAY SHOWER IN THE MID AFTERNOON TOMORROW THOUGH. THAT’S THE IMPACT DAY. SO IF YOU CAN TRAVEL TODAY OR TRAVEL WEDNESDAY INSTEAD OF TRAVELING TOMORROW, THAT’S THE BEST BET. THOSE ARE THE SWEET SPOTS. THAT’S THE SWEET SPOT. OKAY. THANK YOU SO MUCH KELLY.
