A woman died in a Monday morning car crash in the North Auburn of Placer County, the California Highway Patrol said. CHP was dispatched around 5:54 a.m. to Grass Valley Highway south of Joeger Road. A Pontiac Firebird traveling southbound lost control and collided head-on with a northbound propane truck, CHP said. The 45-year-old driver of the Firebird died from her injuries at the scene. The driver of the truck was uninjured. It is unknown if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash. Northbound lanes were closed but reopened by 8:40 a.m., CHP said.
