Prosecutors withdraw appeal of dismissed case against Alec Baldwin in fatal movie set shooting
I understand that the court disagrees with me and I respect the court's decision. There is absolutely no evidence that any of that ammunition is related to the incident involving MS Hutchins. So the judge is wrong. No, I said that I respect the court's decision. I think that people can disagree. I'm disappointed. Uh because I believe that I believe that the importance of the evidence was misconstrued uh by the defense attorneys, but I have to respect the court's. Do you feel you let the Hutchins family down? Do you regret not turning over the ammunition? Well, I didn't know that the ammunition that became the subject of today's hearing existed. Do you still believe Mr Baldwin was guilty? Um I, you know that that has never been *** decision for me that has always been *** decision for the jury. Did you let the Hutchins family down? Uh No, we didn't. We did everything humanly possible to bring justice uh to Helena and to her family and we're proud of the work that we did. Uh Again, we disagree with the court's decision, but we have to respect it. So where, where do you go from here? Where do you go from here? Do you have any?

Prosecutors withdraw appeal of dismissed case against Alec Baldwin in fatal movie set shooting
New Mexico prosecutors won’t pursue an appeal of a court’s decision to dismiss an involuntary manslaughter charge against Alec Baldwin in the fatal shooting of a cinematographer on the set of a Western movie, the Santa Fe district attorney’s office announced Monday.Special Prosecutor Kari Morrissey withdrew the appeal of a July decision at trial to dismiss the charge against Baldwin in the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins during a rehearsal on a movie set outside Santa Fe in October 2021.The decision to drop the appeal solidifies the decision by Judge Mary Marlowe Sommer halfway through the trial to dismiss the case on allegations that police and prosecutors withheld evidence from the defense.Baldwin’s trial was upended by revelations that ammunition was brought into the Santa Fe County sheriff’s office in March by a man who said it could be related to Hutchins’ killing. Prosecutors said they deemed the ammo unrelated and unimportant, while Baldwin’s lawyers say investigators “buried” the evidence in a separate case file and filed a successful motion to dismiss. The district attorney's office said the New Mexico attorney general would have carried forward the appeal but "did not intend to exhaustively pursue the appeal on behalf of the prosecution."“As a result, the State’s efforts to continue to litigate the case in a fair and comprehensive manner have been met with multiple barriers that have compromised its ability to prosecute to the fullest extent of the law,” the statement from local prosecutors stated.
