Three people were rescued near Bodega Bay after they were swept off land by a powerful wave on Monday, the Sonoma County Fire District said.Officials said around 12:30 p.m., the three people were swept off the edge of Scotty's Creek. Two of them were carried approximately 150 yards up the creek.The fire district said one person was found clinging to the rocks. Of the two who were carried upstream, one was found clinging to a log, and the other was making his way to shore.Two of the people rescued were taken to an area hospital, officials said, while the other was evaluated and released at the scene.The National Weather Service in the Bay Area said that similar conditions are expected on Tuesday, with continuing hazardous surf along the coastline. It also noted that significant rainfall is expected in the region Tuesday, which could bring minor flooding and small landslides in north and west Sonoma County.The fire district said the incident serves as a reminder to never turn your back on the ocean.Powerful waves were also hammering the central coast on Monday. One man died after he was trapped under debris during high surf at a Santa Cruz County beach. Additionally, the Santa Cruz Wharf partially collapsed, sending three workers into the ocean.
