The Sacramento Police Department arrested a man accused of engaging officers in a gun fight on Feb. 10.
Armani Lee, 28, was booked into the Sacramento County Jail Saturday on charges including a parole violation and a previous shooting on Feb. 4th, police said. Additional charges are anticipated, according to the Sacramento Police Department.
The shooting happened about 2 p.m. in the 2900 block of Del Paso Boulevard.
The department’s Post Release Community Supervision Team and Sacramento County’s gang unit were conducting surveillance of a parolee suspected in a shooting earlier this month in the area of Land Avenue, Sacramento police Sgt. Bryce Heinlein said.
When officers approached the suspect, he pulled out a handgun and opened fire on a K-9 officer, Heinlein said.
Heinlein said three Sacramento police officers and a Sacramento County sheriff’s deputy returned fire, hitting the suspect multiple times. He was taken to the hospital where he remains in stable condition.
The three Sacramento police officers involved have been with the department for 11, 18 and 19 years, police said.
No officers were hurt in the shooting. The officers involved have been placed on paid administrative leave.
This shooting was the second unprovoked shooting on Sacramento police officers in the past four months, the department said. No officers were injured in these shootings.
