New 2023 California State Fair rule: Minors not allowed at the fair by themselves

New 2023 California State Fair rule: Minors not allowed at the fair by themselves
MAYBE TAKING SOME BREAKS FROM THE EXTREME HEAT. A COUPLE OF OTHER THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THIS YEAR AND THE CHIEF OF POLICE OUT HERE, CAL EXPO CRAIG WALTON, IS JOINING US. CRAIG, LET’S START WITH THE CLEAR BAGS POLICY. YOU CANNOT BRING IN YOUR BIG OLD BACKPACK, CLEAR BAGS ONLY AND ABSOLUTELY IS GOING TO BE ENFORCED THIS YEAR. THE SIZE IS 12 BY 12 BY TWO. SO IF YOU TAKE OUT A ONE GALLON ZIPLOC BAG, THAT’S WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE. AND UNFORTUNATELY, A LOT OF PEOPLE USE THAT STUFF NOW TO GO TO CONCERTS. SO HOPEFULLY PEOPLE ARE FAMILIAR. BUT A PLAIN OLD ZIPLOC BAG WILL BE JUST FINE. NOW, THE OTHER BIG CHANGE YOU HAVE HERE AT SECURITY WISE IT IS REALLY IMPORTANT IS YOU HAVE AN UNACCOMPANIED MINOR POLICY. AND THIS AFFECTS ANYBODY UNDER THE AGE OF 18. CORRECT. SO IF YOU’RE UNDER 18, YOU CAN’T COME IN WITHOUT A PARENT OR GUARDIAN OVER THE AGE OF 21. AND THAT’S ALL DAY, EVERY DAY, ALL NIGHT, EVERY NIGHT. THE CHANGE IN THAT POLICY HAS TO DO WITH THE FACT THAT YOU MUST MAINTAIN A PARENT OR GUARDIAN ON THE GROUNDS WHY THE KIDS ARE HERE AND THEY HAVE TO HAVE A TELEPHONE NUMBER SO THEY CAN CONTACT THEIR PARENT OR GUARDIAN. WHY THEY’RE HERE. SO YOU GOT TO COME IN WITH AN ADULT ONCE THEY’RE INTO TO THE FAIRGROUNDS, THEY’RE OKAY TO GO WANDER AROUND AND RIDE ALL THE RIDES THAT YOU DON’T WANT TO RIDE. THAT’S FINE. BUT IF THERE IS AN ISSUE AND SOMEBODY ASKED THEM, WHERE’S YOUR PARENT? WHERE’S THE NUMBER OF THE PERSON WHO’S HERE WITH YOU, THEY’VE GOT TO BE ABLE TO PROVIDE IT. AND THE ADULT HAS GOT TO ANSWER THAT PHONE. ABSOLUTELY. AND THE POLICIES IN PLACE FOR THE PROTECTION OF THE KIDS. WE’VE TALKED ABOUT THIS EVERY YEAR. I END UP WITH AS MANY AS TEN KIDS UNDER THE AGE OF 18 AFTER THE FAIR EITHER AT MY OFFICE OR OUT IN FRONT WAITING FOR A RIDE. AND IT’S JUST NOT A HEALTHY ENVIRONMENT. OR IF THEY GET HURT, IT’S HOT OUT HERE. IT’S EASY TO GET HEAT EXHAUSTION, THAT SORT OF THING. SO IT’S FOR EVERYBODY’S PROTECTION. SO EVERYBODY KNOWS THAT IS THE NEW RULE THIS YEAR AND IT WILL BE ENFORCED. THANK YOU, CHIEF. WE APPRECIATE IT. WE HOPE YOU HAVE MY PLEASURE.
