Sacramento Republic FC's Jack Gurr, Danny Vitiello named to USL Championship All-League teams
Two Sacramento Republic FC players have been named to USL Championship All-League teams and are in the running for individual league awards.
The All-League Teams honor the top 22 players of the season.
Defender Jack Gurr was named to the first team for a second consecutive year. Goalkeeper Danny Vitiello was named to the second team for 2024 after being a first team selection in 2023.
Gurr led Republic in assists for the season with eight, coming in third in the league. He had been a contender for a golden playmaker award honoring the player with the most assists until he got injured at the end of the season.
He missed the final three games of the regular season and then Republic’s opening playoff round match when the Las Vegas Lights defeated Sacramento in a penalty shootout.
Vitiello set a new career high with 14 clean sheets in 2024. A clean sheet is when a goalkeeper keeps their opponent scoreless.
He had a 75.8 save percentage.
Both players previously signed multiyear contract extensions with Sacramento Republic FC and will return for the 2025 season.
Sacramento Republic FC said Thursday that Vitiello was also named a finalist for Goalkeeper of the Year, which he won in 2023.
Gurr was nominated for Defender of the Year for a second straight year.
The league will announce its winners for both categories during the week of Nov. 18.
