Everything you need to know about the 2024 California State Fair

This year's fair returns to Sacramento's Cal Expo on July 12-28.

FAIR IS UNDERWAY. IT STARTED AT 10:00 THIS MORNING AT CAL EXPO. THERE ARE RULES AND POLICIES IN PLACE TO KEEP YOU SAFE. POLICE SAY ONE OF THE THINGS THAT SOMETIMES DOES HAPPEN IS PARENTS AND KIDS GETTING SEPARATED. THEY SAY IF THAT HAPPENS, TRY NOT TO PANIC. IF YOU LOSE ONE OF YOUR LOVED ONES, LARGE OR SMALL, THEY RUN OFF AND IT’S EXCITING TO BE OUT HERE AND THE KIDS ARE ATTRACTED TO EVERYTHING. DON’T RUN OFF IN ANY DIRECTION. SPEND THE TIME THE 30S TO A MINUTE. LOOK AROUND THE AREA, MAKE SURE THEY’RE NOT IN THE AREA. A LOT OF THE LOST KIDS THAT WE GET REPORTED TO US ENDED UP. WE FIND THEM WITHIN 50FT OF WHERE THE PARENTS SAID THEY SAW THEM LAST. SO LOOK AROUND THE AREA. IF YOU DON’T FIND THEM IN THAT 30S TO A MINUTE, LOOK FOR AN OFFICER OR A SECURITY GUARD OR ANY OTHER STATE FAIR EMPLOYEE. THEY’LL GET A HOLD OF US AND WE WILL ABSOLUTELY TAKE CARE OF THE PROBLEM. SOMETHING IMPORTANT TO KEEP IN MIND THE STATE FAIR HAS A CLEAR BAG POLICY. THIS IS A BIG ONE. THE ONLY EXCEPTION IS A BAG. NO BIGGER THAN FIVE INCHES BY EIGHT INCHES. SO ALSO CHECK YOUR POCKETS BEFORE YOU GO THROUGH THE METAL DETECTORS. SO FIRST DAY OF THE FAIR OBVIOUSLY IT’S HOT OUT THERE. THERE ARE WAYS TO STAY COOL. SO TO MAKE SURE YOU TAKE ADVANTAGE OF WHAT THEY’VE GOT FOR YOU THERE. KCRA 3’S ON A HEATED JAFARI IS THERE, BRAVING THE HEAT AND SHOWING US HOW SHE’S STAYING COOL ON A HEAT OF WHAT’S GOING ON OUT THERE. WELL, IT IS A BEAUTIFUL DAY HERE AT THE CALIFORNIA STATE FAIR, BUT DON’T LET THIS WEATHER FOOL YOU. YOU CAN REALLY FEEL THESE TRIPLE DIGIT TEMPERATURES RIGHT OVER HERE. YOU SEE, THERE’S A LOT OF VENDORS WITH A LOT OF FOOD, AND YOU CAN GET A SWEET TREAT OR SOMETHING ELSE AND TAKE IT OVER TO THAT AREA WHERE IT’S COVERED. SO A NICE SHADED SPACE IT ALSO HAS MISTING FANS. AND THEN RIGHT OVER HERE, THIS IS ONE OF FOUR OF THE OFFICIAL COOLING STATIONS THAT THEY HAVE OVER HERE AT THE CALIFORNIA STATE FAIR. AND IT COMES WITH THESE AMAZING BIG FANS. AS YOU CAN SEE, THEY’RE REALLY POWERFUL. IT BLOWS MY HAIR RIGHT BACK. AND I KNOW A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE ALSO WONDERING ABOUT THOSE FARM ANIMALS THAT THEY HAVE HERE TODAY. AND IN THE BARN. I AM TOLD THAT THERE ARE ALSO SOME REALLY BIG FANS. SO ALONG WITH THOSE COOLING STATIONS, THERE’S THOSE SHADED AREAS AS WELL AS A LOT OF BOTTLES OF WATER THAT YOU CAN PURCHASE, AS WELL AS OTHER BEVERAGES. AND YOU CAN ALSO BRING IN PLASTIC, WATER BOTTLES AS LONG AS THEY ARE SEALED. LIVE AT CAL EXPO ANAHITA JAFARI KCRA THREE NEWS. ANAHITA, I’M SO HAPPY YOU GOT YOUR BEYONCE HAIR MOMENT RIGHT ON YOUR FIRST PREMIERE HERE ON KCRA. WE WANT TO WELCOME ON A HEATED TO THE TEAM.
